Blog of an urban pastor

With a nod to Georges Bernanos (Diary of a Country Priest), here goes this blog. I have to say I’m a Johnny-come-lately Luddite to the blogosphere, so bear with me as I get the hang of this.

But what about the blog name.  What I’m after in this blog is a place where I can think out loud, reflect, drop quotes, spotlight insights, laugh at life or with others, post a photo – all on the stuff of life, of which God is a major part in my universe. But there’s so much other stuff too – that everyday stuff that may not be seemingly religious but which is a vital part of life, and therefore I believe, a vital part of God’s life. All the bits and bites and odds and ends of everyday living and ordinary faith.

So here’s a good quote to launch out with – from an early follower of Jesus, Gregory of Nyssa (so many of my favourite Jesus people are dead Christians – I know that sounds a little off, especially if you’re a living Christian, so I hope you won’t take offense).

Gregory writes: “Let us remember that the life in which we ought to be interested is ‘daily’ life. We can, each of us, only call the present time our own … Our Lord tells us to pray for today, and so he prevents us from tormenting ourselves about tomorrow.”
